▶️Net als op woensdag 9 juli en donderdag 10 juli zal de aarde op respectievelijk 22 juli en 5 augustus meetbaar haar rotatie versnellen, waardoor de gebruikelijke dag van 24 uur met 1,3 tot 1,5 milliseconden wordt verkort. De maan is hier hoogstwaarschijnlijk de oorzaak van. De maan beinvloedt echter niet alleen de rotatie van de aarde, maar ook de ionosfeer. De baan van de maan is niet alleen elliptisch, maar staat ook schuin ten opzichte van de aarde - onder een hoek tussen 18? en 28? ten opzichte van de evenaar van de aarde. Hoe groter deze hoek, hoe sneller de aarde om haar as draait. Op de bovengenoemde dagen zal de maan een hoek van bijna 28? maken. Er zijn wereldwijd 450 atoomklokken in gebruik, die de tijd meten met een onnauwkeurigheid van slechts ongeveer een seconde per 100 miljoen jaar. Volgens "Date and Time" viel de kortste dag sinds de introductie van atoomklokken in de jaren 50 op 5 juli vorig jaar, toen de aarde 1,66 milliseconden sneller bewoog. De maan beinvloedt echter niet alleen de rotatie van de aarde, maar ook de ionosfeer. Dit effect staat bekend als "zwaartekrachtgetijden". Waarnemingen tonen aan dat de getijden de TEC (Totale Elektroneninhoud) met enkele procenten (meestal 5-10) kunnen moduleren, met maximale amplitudes bij lage magnetische veld niveau's (lage breedtegraden) en tijdens de winterperiode op het desbetreffende halfrond. De veranderingen kunnen alleen worden gedetecteerd met nauwkeurige GNSS- of satellietgegevens. Er is echter geen praktische impact op de radiopropagatie in de amateurradiodienst waarneembaar. ▶️Rusland werkt aan modules voor ruimtestation

▶️De samenwerking tussen Rusland en de VS op het gebied van ruimtestations zal binnenkort worden vervangen door een eigen ruimtestation, terwijl Roscosmos de eerste modules voorbereidt. Net nu de VS zich voorbereidt om het internationale ruimtestation ISS in 2030 buiten gebruik te stellen, is ruimtevaartorganisatie Roscosmos van plan de eerste modules te lanceren voor haar Russische ruimtestation, 's werelds eerste ruimtestation met droneplatform en robotonderhoud. Deze stap markeert tevens het einde van de internationale samenwerking in de ruimte tussen NASA en Roscosmos. ▶️POTA-activator sterft door accidentele elektrocutie

▶️Tripp Owens (N4NTO) zou geelektrocuteerd zijn tijdens het opstellen van een antennemast tijdens een Parks on the Air (POTA)-activatie in North Carolina. N4NTO was een fervent deelnemer aan het POTA-programma, die meer dan 660 parken activeerde. Radioamateurs op sociale media plaatsten hun condoleances. ▶️SWFO-L1 klaar voor lancering

▶️De nieuwe onderzoekssatelliet van NOAA, SWFO-L1, is volledig geassembleerd en operationeel en wacht op transport van de faciliteit van ruimtevaartuigfabrikant BAE in Colorado naar de lanceerlocatie in Florida, waar hij de laatste voorbereidingen zal ondergaan voordat hij in een baan om de aarde wordt gebracht. De lancering staat gepland voor september 2025.
